I Will Be Your Bloom [Episode 9] (Japanese Drama 2022)

Summary of Episode 9:

In this episode of "I Will Be Your Bloom", the female lead decides to resign and leave the dormitory. In order to salvage the "scandal" situation, the company plans for the male lead to apologise to his fans, but he refuses so he was asked to take a break from all the activities. Things get more awkward at the dormitory when he finds out that Naruse was holding onto the message that she had left for him. The rest of the team decides to be honest with each other about their personal dreams. It turns out that everyone had been putting aside their own dreams to maintain the 8loom that they had painstakingly built up together.

Thoughts:

  • I'm really confused by what Naruse’s trying to pull off here. His choice of words is so harsh too. It’s like he’s so damn afraid of 8loom failing or breaking up that it’s causing him to lose himself. He's no longer the cheerful, helpful and kind Naruse from earlier episodes. I personally think that the switch is so drastic that it's difficult to stomach.

  • The situation is practically forcing the male lead to choose between love and his dreams, and these two are mutually exclusive. Is this still the price of being an idol nowadays? Wouldn't his fans want him to be happy? I guess this situation is a result of a majority of his fans being upset with his dating news. Otherwise, the company wouldn't be so flustered. Unfortunately, the majority of his fans seem to be quite delusional and selfish people. Are they expecting him to stay single so that they have a chance of dating him? Idk man. This is difficult for me to wrap my head around.

  • I admire how the male lead didn't deny his feelings when confronted and was so steadfast in not apologising actually. However, everybody seems to understand something that he and I do not know. It's almost like I'm trying to figure it out together with him sia.

  • I think the show portrayed her in a somewhat selfish manner. She may have thought that leaving without saying goodbye was the most responsible thing that she could do for them. Tbh I don’t know if there’s anything that could be done that might make the situation less painful luh.

  • Oh, I take the previous statement back. Apparently, she left him a voice message, but Naruse didn't pass it to him. LOL.

  • Wa, this episode is so intense sia. There’s so much uncertainty and complicated emotions. So many things are surfacing all at once and the male lead sums it up perfectly at the end - being together in 8loom is holding everyone back from their newly developed dreams. They are stuck because nobody has the courage to choose something else over 8loom, except for the female lead. She knew that being a housekeeper was holding her back from her dream of being an educator. Then again, she didn’t have the courage to break away from the comfortable life with 8loom until she was kinda forced to leave by the scandal situation.
