I Will Be Your Bloom [Episode 10] (Japanese Drama 2022)

Summary of Episode 10:

In this final episode of "I Will Be Your Bloom", the 8loom boys request to disband. The President wants them to inform their fans on their own on the last day of their tour. Many things happen in between that makes them question their decision. Meanwhile, the female lead is working as a teacher and housekeeper at an alternative school. She continues to be a positive influence there as well. She returns and gives the boys a serious talk in hopes that they will make a final decision that they would be happy with. The 8loom boys make an announcement on the last day of their tour.

Thoughts:

  • It’s ironic how they were fighting so hard to prevent from disbanding and now they’re requesting for it. LOL but can sense that they’re also not too sure about this decision. The female lead is so worried about them that she came back to visit. Even she can sense that this is not a decision that the boys are certain or happy about.

  • It's a little abrupt that the boys say their farewell and appreciation speeches to her immediately after she erupted and lectured them though. Her face goes from angry + worried to smiley so quickly and it's rather unnatural to me. As an audience, I'm still processing the so-called "pretentious" speech that she just gave them then suddenly, my emotions take a turn.

  • Random thing: Do y'all notice how often they apologise so formally on this show? The whole 90 degree bend-over apology thing. I wonder if it's very common in the Japanese culture?

  • How come the male lead gets to make such important decision for everyone without consulting anyone? Isn't it awkward that they are literally having their discussion on the stage infront of all of their fans? If I'm a fan, I may suspect that all these are staged actually. So drama!

  • I understand that the success of 8loom was built on the love and support of their fans, but it's sad to know that the boys have to sacrifice so much to "honour" their fans. At the end, all the other members were allowed to take time off to pursue their happiness (except for the male lead, I think).

  • Can someone explain to me what Naruse was instigating when he told the male lead to be 100% happy too? Become a better version of yourself and continue to chase the female lead? Idk man.

  • Hmm, so they are just going to skip through the 3 years?! Is there no follow up on how their individual ventures went? Did they all went south, so all of them are happy to fall back to 8loom as their safety net???

  • "A hug to mark the beginning"??? What does that mean? The female lead seems to still be working at this alternative school, so she's definitely not returning to the dormitory with the boys. Does "beginning" refer to the 8loom boys getting together again after 3 years? But, it has to be about the both of them ma. Since they are able to return to drawing hanamarus for each other, it means that they managed to resolve the problems from before right? I want to believe that the new beginning is the start of their dating relationship BUT he called her "sensei" (teacher) instead of "Asuka-san" when giving her a hanamaru. Help luh! Internal roller coaster over here.

  • Okay, I think this ending makes the most sense to me: maybe in that 3 years, the main leads continued to cheer each other on. As the song suggests, she was there for him when his other members left to pursue their individual dreams. However, they gradually figured out that the love they had for each other was not the romantic kind. Over the 3 years, the female lead might have met someone else and is going to get married to him. So, the male lead gives her a hug to congratulate her on the start of her new life and the female lead accepts it willingly because of all that they had gone through together. Not my favourite ending, but based on their choice of words, calm expressions and personalities, I think this is it.

It's the end, guys. Overall, I quite like this Japanese drama (except that the title is a little confusing... I will bloom for you? I will be your bloom?). Did you know that 8loom was a legit boyband for that few months? They learnt the song and choreography in preparation for the show. So much effort wor.

Do y'all prefer this episode-by-episode posting style? Is it easier to read my thoughts in bullet points as compared to lengthy paragraphs?

Side note: I am officially a Takahashi Fumiya fan! I'm also interested to watch some of his other works!
